DPWH Improves Access Road to Northern Samar Eco Park

More tourists are expected to visit Macagtas Dam Eco Park in Catarman, Northern Samar with the improvement of its access road built by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

In her report to DPWH Secretary Mark A. Villar, DPWH Region 8 Director Nerie Bueno said that the 700-meter road construction and improvement in Barangay Macagtas will give boost to the emerging tourist spot in Catarman.

The road concreting project costing PHP19.5 million includes provisions for three waiting sheds and the installation of 44 sets of solar street lights.

"We are expecting to complete the project within the month not just to improve mobility for the residents of Barangay Macagtas but also to boost economic development in Catarman," added Bueno. 

The project is being implemented by the DPWH Northern Samar First District Engineering Office as part of the National Tourism Development Plan identified by the Department of Tourism.
