DPWH Opens Additional 700 Meters of Road Along Laguna Lake Highway
Last March 2018, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) opened the initial 6-km of the whole 10.7-km Laguna Lake Highway (formerly C6 dike road). Now, the DPWH has officially opened an additional 700-meters of road along the said thoroughfare.
The highway's new section stretches from Napindan to M.L. Quezon, Taguig City, which now bring a total of 6.7-km of concrete road.
In case you're wondering, the Laguna Lake Highway project consists of a two-lane road with a two meter-wide planting strip and drainage. Upon completion, the DPWH says the Laguna Lake Highway could be an alternative route to the congested roads of EDSA and C5 Road.
In addition, the said project is said to reduce travel time from Taytay to Bicutan from one hour to only 30 minutes.
DPWH Secretary Mark Villar said that the Laguna Lake Highway also acts an elevated dike protecting Taguig City against possible flooding. Villar goes on by saying that it can also be a temporary evacuation area "during the occurrence of floods."
