Filipino places 16th overall in FIM CEV Moto2

McKinley Kyle Paz, the Philippines’ first racer in the FIM CEV European Championship Moto2 Category, finished his debut this year by placing 16th overall.

    For the final round of the 2021 season held in Valencia, Spain, the 20-year-old Paz finished 17th when the race was called due to a red flag after starting 21st in the grid.

    During his maiden race, Paz placed 21st at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya then showed his best finish for the season in Portugal after completing the race in seventh place. Apart from that, he battled his way to 10th place despite an injured left pinky in Round 5 of the competition.

    To note, Paz is the 2019 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC) UB150 champion.

    During a virtual meet after the races, Paz expressed gratitude to those who have supported his campaign and vowed to push further in all other races that he will join into.

    In a statement, the local arm of the Japanese motorcycle brand promised that it will continue to support the racer's budding career in the international scene.

    “The Wonderboy has come a long way from the racetracks of the Philippines to the circuits of Europe and carries the flag in every lap. The future of Philippine racing has arrived, Yamaha Motor Philippines will continue to support the journey of Kyle and the all the aspiring riders at home. Watch out for Kyle’s next milestone because his future will undoubtedly be astonishing,” the company shared.
