GAC Motor unveils ‘Trillion Yuan’ initiative

GAC Motor has unveiled its latest company direction that is aimed at developing the company into a world-class enterprise that focuses on electric vehicles.

During the 20th Guangzhou International Automobile Exhibition, the company shared its newest blueprint called the “Trillion GAC 1578 Development Outline.”

The automaker said that the outline has one goal, five areas, seven segments, and eight actions.

Under the plan, GAC is expected to reach total production and sales of more than 4.75 million vehicles and reach RMB 1 trillion in revenue by 2030.

To reach the aforementioned target, the company is set to bolster supply chains, build an energy ecosystem, upgrade current models with intelligent technologies, among others.

“The implementation of the development outline will help GAC Motor maintain its leading position in the high-end NEV market,” GAC noted in a statement.

Despite the challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic, chip shortage and increasing prices of raw materials, the GAC Group has rolled out 2.4 million units in 2022. Its home-grown brands GAC Motor and GAC Aion had a total production and sales of more than 620,000 vehicles in China, of which 43 percent were EV offerings.

GAC noted that for this year, it will be rolling out its first product equipped with X-Soul, its independently developed electrical and electronic architecture.

Locally, the distributorship of GAC Motor vehicles was recently acquired by Astara, who is only about to enter its second year of operation in the country. It is set to launch the introduce two models namely the GAC Empow sedan and all-new GS8 seven-seater sport utility vehicle.
