Grab PH Gives 100 Body Cameras to MMDA

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has been making headlines with its clearing and towing operations. You’ve probably seen the videos of their operation in social media wherein some motorists are arguing with the enforcers. With that in mind, Grab Philippines came up with an idea to donate 100 body cameras to the MMDA in order to promote transparency during traffic apprehension.

MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said that this donation would help the agency in its operation especially in "going after erring motorists on the road." Garcia added that the body cameras will show transparency and will serve as the traffic enforcer's protection from verbal and/or physical abuse.

The MMDA clarified that this donation will not give Grab drivers "special treatment" when they commit any traffic violation. The body cameras will also protect motorists from traffic enforces who asks for bribe. Garcia goes on by saying that the agency intends to have more body cameras however, "it cannot be easily done due to budget constraints."
