An exclusive, special version of the Hyundai i30 N hatchback has been announced by the South Korean carmaker last Monday. Dubbed the i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition, this exclusive model features new design elements inside and out.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What exclusive features can be found on the limited-edition i30 N Drive-N?

These features are a mix of exterior and interior cosmetic updates that separate the limited-edition model from the standard i30 N hatchback.
  • How many units of the limited-edition i30 N Drive-N will be produced?

According to Hyundai, only 800 units of the limited-edition i30 N Drive-N will be produced.
  • According to Hyundai, inspiration for the development of the i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition came from market feedback and media feedback as well as from Hyundai N-thusiasts — a community of Hyundai N fans — who have already been modifying their own vehicles.

New additions to its exterior include 19-inch forged alloy wheels in a dark bronze matte finish; black Hyundai badges; special decals on the side, front, and rear; and two dedicated Drive-N badges in dark bronze matte on the side fenders.

A special Easter egg can be found on the badges on the i30 N Drive‑N Limited Edition. Would-be owners who would take a closer look at the badges will find the GPS coordinates of the home of the N models, the Hyundai Motor Europe Test Center at Nürburgring in Germany.

It will be available in two colors: Phantom Black Pearl and Serenity White Pearl.

Updates to the interior include an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, gear lever, armrest, and handbrake — all with red stitching. Similarly, the Hyundai i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition’s seatbelts, steering wheel N buttons, as well as the inserts and stitching of the N Light Seats, will also have matching red accents.

The i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition also has exclusive floor mats with specific lettering.

Despite the cosmetic updates, the Hyundai i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition will retain the i30 N’s original engine. Under the hood is a 2.0 T-GDi engine mated to Hyundai’s in-house developed eight-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission with three N performance functions: N Power Shift, N Grin Shift, and N Track Sense Shift.

This setup allows the i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition to put out 278 horses and 392Nm of torque. By using the N Grin Shift (NGS) button, the limited-edition i30 N Drive-N will get a boost of an additional nine or 10 horsepower for about 20 seconds.

Only 800 units of the Hyundai i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition will be produced, 75 of which are already reserved for the UK region. The order in which each Hyundai i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition vehicles are in the limited-run production will be displayed in a unique numbered badge found inside the vehicle.

Per Hyundai, additional information about the i30 N Drive-N Limited Edition will be revealed in due course.
