Hyundai highlights Ioniq 5’s towing capabilities

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is one of the most popular electric vehicles on the market today. It has won numerous awards and is even used by the Japanese taxi service MK Taxi to help achieve its sustainability targets.

However, Hyundai highlights yet another feature of the electric compact crossover SUV that will make the Ioniq 5 EV a fitting replacement to traditional mobility — its powerful and clean towing capability.

The Ioniq 5 is built on the Hyundai Motor Group’s dedicated Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). What this means is that the Ioniq 5 EV has a low, wide, and stable stance that makes it ideal for hauling.

In addition, the Ioniq 5 is also smart enough that it can provide an estimated range based on the overall weight of the cargo being towed.

Should the Ioniq 5 run low on power, it can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes with the use of a fast charger.

Speaking of charging, the Ioniq 5 also comes with the innovative Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function, which essentially makes it a large power bank on wheels.

As proof of its superior towing capability, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was crowned Tow Car of the Year 2022 by the Netherlands’ Royal Dutch Touring Club travel association, known simply as ANWB — making it the first all-electric car to claim this coveted title.
