Hyundai will present its Ioniq 5 electric SUV in the United States on May 24, and the Korean brand is highlighting the model's Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function. Hyundai looks like it's pitching this car for the outdoorsy set.

With V2L, electric devices such as electric bicycles, scooters, or camping equipment can be charged from outside of the Ioniq 5. Aside from V2L, Hyundai says the car will also usher in "advanced technology, innovative use of interior space, and a new global electric platform."

During the Ioniq's virtual presentation, the following Hyundai executives will talk about their newest electric entry: Hyundai Motor North America President and CEO José Muñoz, Hyundai Vice President and Head of Hyundai Styling Simon Loasby, and Product Planning and Mobility Strategy Vice President Olabisi Boyle.

The executives will "discuss commitment to electrification, Ioniq 5 design, North American product attributes, and other major announcements," Hyundai added. The Ioniq 5 will go on sale in the US this year.

This minimalist-looking, V2L-toting electric SUV can be powered by either a 58kWh or 72.6kWh battery pack. An e-motor powers the rear wheels, but another motor can be optioned for the front wheels to make a four-wheel drive system. The Ioniq 5's range is estimated at above 480 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the Hyundai Ioniq EV sold locally is a compact hatchback that delivers 118hp and 295Nm of torque from its lithium-ion batteries. At full charge, the Ioniq EV can run for 200 kilometers, according to the estimates of the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA).

The Ioniq EV provides a generous kit list.  It features automatic climate control, heater, engine start/stop button, electric folding mirrors, accessory power outlet, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, onboard computer, central console armrest, and keyless entry.

Meanwhile, entertainment and communication are provided by an eight-inch color touchscreen with FM/AM/Radio, CD player, USB and auxiliary input functionality.

This local EV is priced at P2.05 million (which makes it more affordable than the newly-released Nissan Leaf with its price tag of P2.798 million).
