ASEAN NCAP noted that the Hyundai Stargazer has standard fitments such as a pair of airbags, seatbelt reminder system for frontal occupants, ISOFIX installation for child seats in the rear compartment and pedestrian protection technology.

Further, the Hyundai Stargazer variant that is sold for the Thailand market offers electronic stability control as standard while the technology together with lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and lane keep assist come as either standard or optional fitment in variants sold in other available countries.

    Hyundai Stargazer Rating Plate

The evaluators noted that the Hyundai Stargazer has autonomous emergency braking ([AEB> for city, inter-urban, and pedestrian), auto high beam, as well as blind spot detection as optional equipment.

The rating came out alongside the ASEAN NCAP’s evaluation of the Creta, which had a five-star rating.

“ASEAN NCAP wishes a warm congratulations to Hyundai for achieving impressive results for both of these models. This is another significant milestone for Hyundai to have its SUV and MPV models meet the required vehicle safety performance levels as stipulated in the ASEAN NCAP protocol,” the assessors said in a statement.

“This is indeed an advantage to road users in the ASEAN countries as SUVs and MPVs models are gaining popularity due to its extra passenger seats and thus being able to carry more people and additional goods than a sedan model could. Based on the results, assessments of these two models show that Hyundai has placed greater emphasis on both the safety of its occupants and also other vulnerable road users,” it added.

Powering the Philippine-spec Hyundai Stargazer is the 1.5 Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT) engine, which can deliver a peak churn of 113 horsepower and 144Nm of pulling power.

Offered in three trims, the aforementioned nameplate (which was introduced last month) is being retailed for P998,000 for the base option, P1.128 million for the mid-grade, and P1.218 million for the top-of-the-line version.
