Hyundai has unveiled the company’s latest entry in the global sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment — the Exter.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
How many powertrains are available for the Hyundai Exter?
According to Hyundai, the Exter is available in three powertrain options: two 1.2-liter Kappa gasoline engines (one mated with a five-speed manual and the other with Hyundai’s smart automated manual transmission) and a 1.2-liter bi-fuel Kappa mill (with compressed natural gas) with a five-speed manual gearbox. How many variants does the Hyundai Exter have?
The Hyundai Exter has five variants: EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect.Designed to present a modern take on the Hyundai SUV life, the Exter — the South Korean carmaker shared in a statement — "draws inspiration from the natural world around it and reflects an identity that is external and focused on the outside."
From the outside, the Hyundai Exter looks like a cross between Land Rover Defender and a Hyundai Stargazer. Its contemporary, boxy dimensions; luxurious yet rugged green finish (dubbed Ranger Khaki); as well as its two-tone paintwork seems to have been inspired by the former. Nevertheless, its parametric front grille is pretty much a design cue taken from the latter.
Other notable exterior appointments come in the form of H-signature LED daytime running lights, projector headlamps, a sporty skid plate, and a unique “EXTER” emblem on the front. It rides on diamond-cut alloy wheels housed in blacked-out wheel arches and side sill cladding.
While interior features are still to be revealed, Hyundai confirmed that the Exter will come in three powertrain options, namely a 1.2-liter Kappa gasoline engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission, the same 1.2-liter Kappa gasoline powerplant but paired with Hyundai’s smart automated manual transmission, and a 1.2-liter bi-fuel Kappa mill (with compressed natural gas) that works in conjunction with a five-speed manual gearbox.
Further, the Hyundai Exter will be offered in five variants: EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect.
Hyundai is now taking reservations for the Exter SUV. It is reportedly arriving in dealerships worldwide later this year.
