Hyundai unveils new Elantra N at Auto Shanghai 2023

Hyundai debuted the N brand in China by taking the new Elantra N to the ongoing Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.

The South Korean carmaker’s high-performance N brand is expected to strengthen Hyundai’s competitiveness in the Chinese market. That said, it was befitting to unveil the exterior design of the new Elantra N at the country’s biggest auto show.

“The new Elantra N, one of the most beloved N brand models around the world, will be a game changer in the Chinese market,” said Hyundai N brand and Motorsports President and Head Till Wartenberg.

At the front, the new Hyundai Elantra N appears to have a lower stance with enlarged black trim and exterior color garnish compared to the base model. Additionally, the bolder bumper design details give it a dynamic and aggressive look that embodies high performance.

The side profile of the high-performance Hyundai Elantra wears N-specific red strips. The black anodized emblem, which will be the new design identity of the N brand starting with the new Elantra N, accentuates the model’s sporty image.

At the rear, the black bumper has been enlarged and a boat tail detail has been added to emphasize the car’s sporty image while improving aerodynamics.

Following the Hyundai Elantra N reveal, the marque announced that it will introduce a high-performance electrified model in China in the form of the Ioniq 5 N.

“With all three of N brand’s core driving characteristics, Ioniq 5 N marks the beginning of a new era of high-performance electrification, and we are confident that it will set a new benchmark for sustainable high performance,” said Wartenberg.

Hyundai also introduced a China-only compact sport utility vehicle (SUV), dubbed the Mufasa.

The company explained that the Hyundai Mufasa was developed with the concept of a “Moving Smart Home SUV” that offers a differentiated mobile experience with stylish and innovative design, advanced amenities, and best-in-class space to create a comfortable and convenient home-like experience.

It will be released in China in the first half of 2023.
