I-Act Suspends Number Coding Scheme for Private Vehicles

Good news for private vehicle owners who want to avoid the Number Coding Scheme this holiday season: The Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) announced that it will suspend the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program -- or more popularly known as the Number Coding Scheme -- for private cars on Thursday, (December 29), Friday (December 30), and Monday (January 2).

The statement came in preparation for the expected heavy traffic, as Metro Manila residents go to their provinces to celebrate their Christmas break. It's also to prepare for the Rizal Day that will be held on December 30.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority General Manager Tim Orbos said that the number coding scheme suspension will allow the public to utilize their vehicles in going to provinces and other destinations outside Metro Manila. “These will afford them the opportunity to use their vehicles, especially with provincial bus trips fully booked by this time," Orbos stated.
