INFOGRAPHIC: History of BAIC
The BAIC Automotive Group (BAIC Group) may not be as popular as the mainstream automotive vehicles we have today, but it more than makes up for this by its sheer size. Headquartered in Beijing and Italy, it's considered one of the five biggest automotive groups in China, and currently comprises four automotive brands: military vehicle and SUV maker Beijing Automobile Works (BAW), equipment and agricultural manufacturer Foton Motor; and BAIC's electric vehicle subsidiary, BJEV; and passenger car maker BAIC Motors.
BAIC Motors was incorporated in 2010 as part of the BAIC Group, and made its debut in the Philippines at the Philippine International Motor Show in September 2014. Its official distributor is Bayan Automotive Industries Corporation (Bayan Auto), which currently distributes and sells all BAIC passenger and commercial vehicles. It is also in charge of marketing, dealer operations, and after-sales services for all BAIC models in the country.
