We may soon experience reduced travel time going to the surfing spot in La Union once the latest bypass road from Bauang to San Juan town gets completed.

The leadership of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) announced that the agency has almost completed constructing the Bauang-San Fernando-San Juan Bypass Road. This is expected to cut down the usual hour travel from Bauang via Manila North Road to just 30 minutes.

Started in 2018, the project involves the construction of a four-lane, 22.19-kilometer bypass road and six bridges with a total length of 1,281 lineal meters.

According to under Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, the completion of this project would provide an economic boost to the whole province of La Union due to more convenient land travel.

Further, the latest road construction involves road opening and concrete paving, as well as installation of cross and lateral drainage, slope protection works,  shoulders with bicycle lanes, provision of pavement markings and signages.
