Lamborghini takes 60th-anniversary celebration to Japan

Lamborghini has staged its “60th Anniversary Lamborghini Day” at Suzuka Circuit in Japan as part of its year-long celebration.

The Italian carmaker said that the celebration, which took place at the famous race track, honored the company’s long history with a display of iconic classic and current cars from the Lamborghini 350 GT, Islero, and Countach — all restored by the brand’s Polo Storico Department.

Further, the Sant’Agata Bolognese-based car brand shared that over 280 Lamborghini cars participated in the momentous gathering in Japan’s Mie Prefecture. It reportedly was recognized by Guinness World Records as the “Largest parade of Lamborghini cars,” breaking the previous record of 251 models under the Raging Bull brand present in an event.

“This year marks the 60th anniversary since Lamborghini was founded in 1963. The fact that so many Lamborghinis, from current models to classic cars, gathered at the internationally renowned Suzuka Circuit is proof that our brand has touched the emotions of many people here in Japan over its long history and is still so valued today. It is also an immense pleasure to witness this special moment of receiving a Guinness World Record during an important year such as this,” said Automobili Lamborghini Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Stephan Winkelmann.

The event was also an opportunity for Lamborghini to exhibit its latest art pieces: the Time Gazer and the Huracan STO Time Chaser_111100.

For those who do not know, the Time Gazer and the Time Chaser are artworks made by the House of the Raging Bull and Ikeuchi, one of Japan’s most innovative contemporary artists.

Finally, yet importantly, this event was the stage for the Japanese market debut of the Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato, which was originally unveiled at Art Basel Miami Beach in November 2022.

Lamborghini is loved around the world, but we are constantly reminded of the many fans and owners we have throughout Japan, of which we are very appreciative. In 2023 Lamborghini Japan will continue to create opportunities for people to enjoy, and we look forward to not only celebrating this 60th year but taking another history-making step forward together,” commented Automobili Lamborghini Head of Japan Davide Sfrecola.

Highlights of the event include the “Lamborghini Giro Japan 2023,” the Gala dinner, held at Kyoto International Conference Center, and the farewell party at the Nara Prefectural Convention Center.

“This was a remarkable event. We’ve been able to tour through the most ancient streets in Japan and celebrate the brand’s history together with owners. 2023 is our anniversary year in which we will further connect Lamborghini’s roots to the future. We are committed to creating these exciting opportunities for owners to experience the pleasure and enjoyment of being aboard a Lamborghini while discovering the wonders of this country,” Sfrecola stated.

According to Lamborghini, the luxury car brand will next celebrate its 60th anniversary in the United Kingdom where around 300 Lamborghini cars are expected to join the event.
