Mercedes-AMG Leads After Bahrain Grand Prix
Mercedes-AMG Petronas has a commanding lead early in the 2019 Formula 1 season, with their drivers taking the top two spots in the Drivers' Championship standings.
Valtteri Bottas, who took first place in the opening round in Australia and second in Bahrain, now has 26 points. Following him with 18 points is teammate Lewis Hamilton who bagged the Bahrain Grand Prix last weekend from a faltering Charles Leclerc of Ferrari.
On third place overall so far is Red Bull's Max Verstappen with 15 points after finishing third in Australia and fourth in Bahrain.
Placing fourth and fifth spot were Ferrari teammates Sebastian Vettel and Leclerc with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
It was Leclerc who almost finished on top of the podium in Bahrain if not for the engine issue he suffered later in the race. He finished third in Bahrain to earn his first podium finish there.
The next Formula 1 will be the Chinese Grand Prix on April 14.
