Mercedes-Benz to launch EQ nameplate in PH on Sept. 20

Just months after announcing that it will compete in the electric vehicle (EV) arena within the year, Mercedes-Benz Philippines is set to launch its first electrified offering by next month.

Based on the invite sent to Carmudi Philippines, the Three-Pointed Star marque’s local arm will reveal its new energy vehicle model on September 20.

“The highly anticipated unveiling of Progressive Luxury experience that redefines Sustainability and Performance is coming soon,” Inchcape stated on the e-mail.

As seen in the invitation, Mercedes-Benz confirmed that it will bring in the EQ nameplate in the country based on the closed gloss black grille panel bearing the company logo.

Upon cross checking the global brand’s website, the teased model on the invite could not possibly be the EQA, EQB, EQC, and EQV as it does not wear horizontal lines on the grille portion — narrowing the selections down to the EQS and EQE as they share the same pattern for the front end.

In addition, Carmudi Philippines has received reliable information that Mercedes-Benz Philippines would bring in two body types for electrified models for the local market — sedan and sport utility vehicle (SUV). To note, both the EQS and EQE are present in both categories.
