MG PH reports 85% sales growth in 2021

MG Philippines enjoyed significant growth in 2021 with an 85-percent increase in the brand’s sales. A total of 6,343 MG vehicles were delivered locally last year with over 2,000 units sold in the fourth quarter of 2021. This marks the brand’s best sales achievement in just three short years of being in the market.

“MG Philippines entered 2021with optimism and excitement, fueled by the strong reception of the market and the confidence of our dealer network for the MG brand and its model offers. We approached 2021 confident that MG, with its strong British heritage and superior product portfolio, would resonate with an even wider Filipino audience considering the increasing mobility requirements brought about by the current circumstances,” said The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI) President and CEO Alberto B. Arcilla.

“MG Philippines’ year-on-year sales performance has significantly grown by 85 percent from 2020, as TCCCI engaged the market with the modern vehicle designs, advanced features, driver and passenger benefits, and an enjoyable overall ownership experience which is all part of the MG brand promise. Our achievements in 2021 are a testament to the collective efforts of our principals at SMIL, and the invaluable guidance of our Board, executed with determination by the Management Team and the stewards of TCCCI-MG Philippines,” Arcilla added.

Two of the brand’s best-selling nameplates led the rankings: the MG 5 Sedan and the ZS Crossover SUV. The former is now highly regarded in the local subcompact sedan category for its best-in-class features, exterior size, cabin, luggage space, and driving dynamics, while the latter has become popular for being a value-rich, bang-for-the-buck crossover SUV.

From January to December 2021, total sales of the MG 5 sedan were recorded at 2,013 units, while 4,158 units of the ZS Crossover SUV were sold over the same period.

Last year, MG Philippines introduced the turbocharged MG ZST, expanding its local roster. This year, MG Philippines looks to continue to adapt and grow while offering exciting new models and more value-added after-sales services.

MG Philippines will also continue to offer the latest MG models with an aggressive promo this 2022, to which they tell their customers to expect low down payment options or generous cash discounts on all MG models throughout the year for select MG cars purchased from any of MG Philippines’ 39 accredited dealerships nationwide.
