MMDA to Implement One-Truck Lane Policy Along C-2 Road
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will be implementing a one-truck lane policy along C-2 Road soon.
MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said that the one-truck lane policy along C-2 Road is meant to reduce traffic congestion in the area as well as to lessen the number of truck-related accidents.
"This is aimed at preventing accidents and address heavy traffic caused by trucks along the thoroughfare," Garcia said.
Last year, the Metro Manila Accident Recording and Analysis System reported that there were around 155 truck-related incidents along C-2 Road.
Under the said policy, trucks that are plying along C-2 Road will be allowed to drive through only on one lane from Andalucia to Nagtahan Road and vice versa in Manila.
Trucks with a gross weight of more than 4,500 kg shall use the third lane from the sidewalk, which is the second lane from the median or center island. However, trucks can weave out of the said lane when traversing Nagtahan.
The MMDA has yet to announce the effectivity date of the one-truck lane policy along C-2 Road. Of note, the one-truck lane policy is also being implemented along C5 Road, Katipunan Avenue, Congressional Road, Mindanao Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard.
