More Unboxing, But No Launches for Kia PH

Expect nothing but more surprises as the leadership of Korean carmaker Kia in the Philippines said that they will continue to stay true to their slogan, 'The Power to Surprise'.

However, as of this year, no vehicle launches will be made.

In an interview with CARMUDI PHILIPPINES, Kia Philippines President Manny Aligada said that for 2020, the company will now focus on strengthening the current lineup that they have in the local market. 



"With all the 'unboxing' made last year, our focus now is that we make sure that the market will continue to embrace our offerings," Aligada said.

First to be launched last year was the Kia Soluto, followed by Forte and Stinger and lastly, Seltos.

The strong sales was attributed to the Soluto sub-compact sedan, the K2500 light-duty truck, the Grand Carnival minivan, and the newly-launched Seltos sub-compact crossover.

But despite there are no new vehicle launch for 2020, they would still continue to 'unbox' more surprises as the year progresses. 

"There are still surprises as the year goes by," he added.

 

Further, Aligada had a tall order imposed to themselves in terms of sales.

Kia, which is now under the new distributor AC Industrials, an Ayala company, made a 124 percent year-on-year sales growth for 2019 after they have acquired it from the Alvarez group.

"I told our principals that we will try our best to do a repeat performance," Aligada noted.

Moreover, Aligada has announced that they would be launching their latest campaign in the upcoming Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) slated this coming summer.

“The Seltos is the true embodiment of Kia Philippines’ new marketing tagline, “Designed for You.” It is not just any crossover but one that has its owner’s needs in mind,” Aligada said.

“The Seltos is not the only vehicle that is “Designed for You” but the entire Kia lineup as well,” he added.
