To some of our readers, particularly those from Generation X, Moore was the actor they all grew up with knowing as James Bond, and he played the role with more panache than any other Bond actor before and after him. Roger Moore played Bond in seven movies spread over a 12-year span, making him the longest-serving Bond in the franchise. Roger Moore was also the oldest actor to play Bond as he was already 45 years old when he made his first movie in the series in Live and Let Die, and 58 years old when he retired from the role after doing A View to a Kill in 1985.
In honor of Roger Moore's career in the role he's more popularly known for, we've compiled five of the most memorable car stunts in his seven-movie run as James Bond. Enjoy, and rest in peace, Mr. Moore.
The Man with the Golden Gun (1974)
The Man with the Golden Gun may have been released in 1974 but the famous corkscrew jump of the AMC Hornet over the river supposedly was the first stunt to be modeled in a computer. And based on the simulation, the car had to be going at 64 kph when it jumped off the twisted bridge to complete the stunt successfully, and succeed they did.

The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)
Arguably the most popular car stunt ever in a James Bond movie, The Spy Who Loved Me saw the master spy evade his enemies by driving his Lotus Esprit into the sea where it subsequently converts into a miniature submarine.

For Your Eyes Only (1981)
In For Your Eyes Only, Bond is driven around first by his leading lady in a yellow Citroen 2CV before he takes over the wheel while they are being chased by the bad guys in a couple of Peugeot 504s. The car chase takes us through the Spanish countryside as the 2CV endures all sorts of punishment and damages.

Octopussy (1983)
For Octopussy, Bond retrieves his enemy's abandoned Mercedes-Benz W108 250SE as he escapes on a train. As the car's tires are ripped to shreds by a spike strip, Bond uses the steel wheels to chase the train down on the same train track.

A View to a Kill (1985)
In A View to a Kill, Bond commandeers a Renault 11 taxi to chase Grace Jones' May Day through the streets of Paris after she escapes him on a chase up Eiffel Tower by parachuting to the ground. Along the way, the Renault is slowly taken apart by a series of accidents.
