MPT Mobility has recently launched a smart solutions suite for local government units (LGU) to help the latter address challenges within their respective jurisdictions.

  • What is the new MPT Mobility venture called?

The new MPT Mobility program is dubbed Smart Urban Mobility Solutions (SUM Solutions).
  • What is the MPT Mobility's goal in the creation of SUM Solutions?

The new program's goal is to provide local government units with tech-driven initiatives to address mobility woes within their respective areas.
  • The land mobility ecosystem — dubbed the Smart Urban Mobility Solutions (SUM Solutions) — was established with tech-driven initiatives, allowing LGU units to collaborate with them through a public-private-partnership arrangement.

The new program provides intelligent transportation management systems, peak-hour congestion pricing solutions, area-based monitoring and enforcement capabilities, smart parking systems, efficient public transportation and fleet management solutions, and roadside assistance support.

Per MPT Mobility, the integrated services — which are supported by relevant policies from LGU — will help create efficient transportation systems, reduce congestion, and promote road safety.

“We highlight our capability to finance, construct, and operate major projects with LGUs, and one particular success story is the CCLEX (Cebu Cordova Link Expressway) project, which is a joint venture with Cebu City and the municipality of Cordova. We are excited to work with LGUs to provide solutions, address their mobility problems, and create lasting social impact and value in the lives of their residents, allowing them to move freely and provide opportunities to improve local economies,” Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation (MPTC) and MPT Mobility Chief Executive Officer Rodrigo Franco explained.

Aside from dishing out innovative solutions, SUM Solutions will also provide capacity-building programs to key LGU officials for proper management of technologies. The approach will ensure that every LGU will receive the support needed to create an efficient, sustainable, and accessible-to-all transportation system.

“With our transportation and mobility sector expertise, we can create solutions customized to each LGU's needs. The social and economic benefits to residents and business establishments will be substantial,” Franco noted.

To support such a project, MPT Mobility has inked a partnership with Singapore Technologies (ST) Engineering Limited, a company known for its world-class solutions that help to create smarter, and sustainable transportation systems.

To note, ST Engineering has 800 smart city projects in over 150 countries around the world.
