P58-Million Quirino Bridge II is Now Open

Motorists who regularly ply the roads of Manila can now enjoy the newly-renovated Quirino Bridge II along Quirino Highway in Paco, Manila.

Also known as Concordia Bridge, the bridge now offers three southbound and three northbound lanes for vehicles passing through Manila.

"A six-lane Quirino Bridge II can now be used by motorists going in and out of southern part of Manila with the completion of three southbound lanes last October and now the three northbound lanes," explained DPWH Secretary Mark Villar.

The 24-linear meter single-span road bridge, which is part of the Metro Manila Skyway Stage 3 Project, started its reconstruction last year. Its southbound lane was reconstructed from June to October 2018. The entire budget for the repairs cost PHP 58 million.

"Natutuwa naman ako at mabubuksan na itong Concordia Bridge... Ang daily foot traffic ng Quirino Bridge is 100,000 vehicles a day so napakalaking bagay (I am happy that the Concordia Bridge is now open.The daily foot traffic of Quirino Bridge is 100,000 vehicles a day, so it's a huge thing)," Villar told GMA news online.

The DPWH Secretary also added that they timed its opening for the Holy Week.

"Tiniming din namin dahil malapit na po ang Holy Week at magkakaroon na po ng traffic kaya tamang tama lang po ang opening ng Concordia Bridge. Marami po ang makikinabang (We timed it because the Holy Week is coming soon and there will be traffic, so Concordia Bridge's opening is just right. Many will benefit from this)," Villar said.

The Quirino Bridge II is part of Circumferential Road II. It connects the cities of Makati, Pasay, and Manila to the eastern and central side of Metro Manila. It also connects Rizal, San Juan, Marikina, Quezon, and Mandaluyong cities.
