  • Set on February 18-25 in General Nakar, Quezon, the event will have more challenging obstacles and a new competition category.

Per its organizers, the Petron Philippine Overland Expedition 2024 will include a technical multi-stage segment and a new category.

Those eyeing to compete may join the Team Competition (comprising three rigs with six competitors) or in the Open Class Category (as an individual rig).

A newly-added division in the event, the Open Class will have individual rig entries with only one driver and assisted by his/her co-driver. “Special emphasis will be given to driver safety in addition to vehicle set up and capabilities, with rig specifications used in international 4x4 competitions to be followed,” PHL-OX organizers said in a statement.

On the other hand, the Team Competition participants must retain at least 80 percent of their original body and chassis structure. Vehicles must also have full recovery and river crossing capacity.

Each team should also be self- reliant; bringing with them provisions such as food, water, power source as well as critical vehicle spare parts and supplies.

The PHL-OX 2024 will flag off from the General Nakar Municipal Hall in Quezon province enroute to the final challenge in Umiray.

The team with the fastest time to complete each timed stage will receive the highest point. On the other hand penalties will be given to those who will fail to adhere to specific safety guidelines such as not wearing seatbelts while the vehicle is in motion and not using gloves when winching.

    PHL-OX

Similar to PHL-OX last year, the champion team will take home P500,000 while the second- and third-placers will receive P200,000 and P100,000 respectively. Meanwhile, the victor in the Open Class Category will have P200,000.

Aside from the competition, PHL-OX will also have an overland jamboree from February 21-24 that will gather hundreds of campers, adventure enthusiasts, and manufacturers.
