Porsche Tops Consumer Reports’ 2020 Report Card Ranking
Porsche gained another feather to its cap after topping the Consumer Reports’ 2020 Brand Report Card Ranking.
“The brands at the top of our rankings do a great job of producing cars that perform well in our road tests, and are reliable, safe, and highly satisfying,” said Jake Fisher, Senior Director of Automotive Testing at Consumer Reports.
Consumer Reports is a US nonprofit organization known for its unbiased product testing. It purchases vehicles for road tests and scores these after conducting 50 different evaluations.
Its safety assessments include crash-testing and award extra points to proven advanced safety features that come standard for a particular model. Its reliability predictions are based on problems reported by consumers in a vehicle’s 17 trouble areas.
Owner satisfaction is determined whether car owners would purchase the same car if they had to do it again.

Late last month, Consumer Reports released showed that Porsche received highest overall score of 86.
This means it has bested 32 other brands, including about seven of its competitors in the premium luxury segment. Coming second is Genesis while Subaru, who was first in 2019 report card, was on third. On fourth and and fifth spot were Mazda and Lexus respectively. Completing the top 10 are Audi, Hyundai, BMW, Kia and Mini. The ranking, based on Consumer Reports’ exclusive testing and member surveys, determines the leaders in terms of their performance in road tests and safety evaluations, as well as in reliability and owner satisfaction surveys. These are factored in to arrive at an overall score. The brands at the top of the ranking have more models in their product lineup that consistently perform well. In the 2020 ranking, Porsche jumped two positions from last year to claim the top spot. Consumer Reports tested three models from the brand, recommending all three. Also read:
