Rolls-Royce Announces Limited Edition Silver Ghost Collection

Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost Collection

Rolls-Royce is a name synonymous with innovation, and so whenever it introduces a new model or line, you can bet that it’s going to mark a milestone. With its recent announcement that it will produce a limited run—35 in all—of 2018 Rolls-Royce Silver Ghosts, the luxury car brand once again proves why it is considered to be one of, if not the, most prestigious car brand in the world.

The Silver Ghost Collection is meant to celebrate the 1907 ‘Silver Ghost,’ the car that helped Charles Rolls and Claude Johnson achieve the long-distance endurance record of 14,371 miles (23,137 kilometers). By setting the record, the original Silver Ghost also managed to shape automotive and luxury history, raising the bar and creating a benchmark for excellence in the process.

Exterior-wise, the Silver Ghost Collection comes in a bespoke Cassioepeia Silver exterior finish, accented by a hand-painted coachline imbued with 100-percent Pure Silver particles. The front fascia receives an update, with the front grille frame protruding as the grille itself is more inset.  The veins are black instead of silver this time around, mimicking the distinctive black grille of the original. The wheels get redesigned as well, and showcase fully-polished wheel hubs encircled with ‘‘SILVER GHOST – SINCE 1907’ engraved on a Cassiopeia Silver backing.

A black-gold plated collar acts as the base of the ‘Spirit of Ecstasy,’ Rolls-Royce’s distinct bonnet ornament with an insert sourced from hammered copper. The ornament itself is finished in solid sterling silver, marked with the registration plate of the original Silver Ghost: AX201. All these fine details are just at the bonnet ornament, which should give you a good idea of what to expect everywhere else.

Inside, ‘Forest Green’ leather accents provide a nod to the color scheme of the original interior. Meanwhile, new silver-tipped leather, silver inlay on the open-pore wood trim, and solid silver ingot make their Rolls-Royce cabin debut.

An analog clock features prominently on the dashboard, engraved with the words ‘Silver Ghost Since 1907.’ The clock is encased in hand-beaten solid silver, further adding a touch of exclusivity to the cabin. According to a representative, the clock is reminiscent of the one equipped in the original Ghost.

Other updates include additional sound insulation in the doors, rear wings and luggage compartment, and a new acoustic film fitted between the side and rear doors to further reduce noise entering the cabin. There’s also a new infotainment system, larger rear infotainment screens, and an upgraded 4G LTE module for improved data transfer.
