KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What awards did Pilipinas Shell receive at the 10th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards?

The oil firm received the “Best Eco-friendly Commercial Development” award and the Special Recognition in Environmental, Social, and Governance at the awarding ceremony.
  • What are the innovative sustainable solutions that Pilipinas Shell have for its Site of the Future stations?

Among the Site of the Future’s sustainable solutions are solar panels in the canopy and green walls; self-irrigating plant wall and rainwater collector; as well as the utilization of light-emitting diodes and inverter technology and other energy-efficient equipment; eco-bricks or up-cycled plastic for walls and outdoor chairs and tables; Shell Bitumen FreshAir asphalt; and grass-crete.
  • The company’s winning entry is its Site of the Future-Acienda Silang, which was launched September last year. According to PSPC, the facility was created to “enhance customer experience”, which enables various forms of transportation while lowering carbon footprint through innovation.

During the awarding ceremony, Pilipinas Shell Vice President and General Manager for Mobility Randy Del Valle expressed the company’s gratitude for the honors bestowed as it shifts gas stations to mobility destinations to meet net zero ambitions.

“It is an honor for an energy company like ours to be recognized among distinguished real estate developers,” he said. “We continue to power progress here in the Philippines. Together, let’s continue to move forward in making the future,” Del Valle added.

To note, PSPC was the only energy firm recognized during the recent awarding ceremony.

Further, the oil giant shared that the aforementioned mobility station is set to become a global blueprint for Shell’s mobility stations. The facility introduced sustainable features and a modern design that puts the needs of customers first as a benchmark for the rollout of mobility stations worldwide.

“It lays the foundations for promoting circular economy, sustainability and inclusive mobility with site features like the dedicated stop-and-go rack where cyclists can park, sit, and dine al-fresco,” PSPC noted in a statement.

PSPC also said that being an eco-friendly commercial development, the Site of the Future-Acienda Silang has reduced 30 percent of its energy consumption “compared to the same site with the same technology.”

After putting up the Site of the Future-Acienda Silang, PSPC utilized the same design to two more Shell stations in Mahogany Tagaytay City and North Gateway, Mandaue City, Cebu Province (the first in the Visayas region). Relatedly, the company will build three similar stations as part of the first phase of the Site of the Future pilot in the country.

Del Valle said, “Pilipinas Shell has been in the Philippines for the last 108 years. We remain committed to fulfilling low carbon operations in our Mobility Stations towards our net-zero ambition.”

In a statement, the oil firm shared that its mobility goals are anchored on public safety, comfort and convenience, innovations and technology, policies, and environmental sustainability.
