Subaru has announced that it will be releasing two highly-anticipated models: the range-topping
Subaru BRZ STI Sport and the limited-edition
Subaru S208 WRX STI.
Subaru BRZ STI Sport
The Subaru BRZ STI Sport was developed Subaru's motorsports subsidiary,
Subaru Tecnica International (STI), and is positioned as the top of the BRZ lineup, "taking the driving performance and quality feel, as well as the luxury feeling of the interior and exterior, to new levels."
Though the engine of the BRZ STI remains untouched from the standard model, everything else has either been retuned or refined to maximize the appeal of the Subaru BRZ even further.
An
exclusive front bumper with STI ornaments and an exclusive fender garnish complement the glossy black exterior component while the interior makes use of
leather and
Alcantara for the seats to go with the
Bordeaux red color motif. Exclusive components have also been adopted for the instrument panel, the glare shield, and the steering wheel, "creating a sporty and special space."
To enhance the BRZ's already adept suspension system, it has now been fitted with
flexible V-braces and
flexible draw stiffener front suspension. In addition,
SACHS dampers and
coil springs have also been installed to improve steering response and inhibit roll to give the BRZ STI Sport a flexible yet highly stable handling. Completing the package are
18-inch aluminum wheels shod with high-performance tires.
Lastly, an
STI Sport Cool Grey Khaki Edition will be made available but limited to
just 100 units only, with the lucky owners being selected at random via a lottery drawing.
Subaru S208 WRX STI
As for the S208 WRX STI, it has a specially tuned engine that puts out
325 hp and
432 Nm of torque. Handling is improved with an
11:1 quick steering gear ratio to go with the
flexible tower brace,
DampMatic II front suspension with
adjustable damping, and
front-rear Active Torque Vectoring.
A
carbon-fiber trunk lip spoiler further enhances its driving performance while a
large front underspoiler directs airflow over and around the S208 WRX STI and its STI-designed
BBS 19-inch forged aluminum wheels and 255/35R19 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tires. STI-designed Recaro front bucket seats and exclusive sports instruments in the interior round out the enhancements of the S208 WRX STI over the "standard" WRX STI.
For those who seek a little more exclusivity for their S208 WRX STI, it is also offered with an
NBR Challenge Package that is limited to
350 units and fits the high-performance model with a
dry carbon-fiber roof and a
dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler with the S208 logo.
The S208 is available in two body colors--
WR Blue Pearl and
Crystal White Pearl--though a limited-run
Cool Grey Khaki Edition is available for the NBR Challenge Package as well.
The S208 is limited to
450 units for the
Japanese market only. Customers who wish to purchase one are required to sign up with a dealer during the time period set for reserving the vehicle.
However, if the number of interested parties for the S208 WRX STI exceeds the limit, the buyers will be selected randomly via lottery.
