BMW 3 Series Sedan

BMW has heavily reworked on the interior cabin of the new 3-Series, and in the process, the cabin looks much flashier and technology-welcoming than before. There is an array of new electronically controlled features onboard, all of which make the cabin of the BMW 3-Series feel very futuristic.

The complete layout of the dashboard has been revised, with the welcoming addition of an all-new free-standing wide trapezoidal 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the top. This system houses all the controls related to iDrive, infotainment and navigation, but misses out on the crucial inclusion of Android Auto at this price.

The major center console is themed in a hexagonal manner, which houses the nice-looking AC vents in a silver finish. The edges of this center console make way for the horizontal stretches across the dashboard, thus dividing it into two layers. The driver’s cockpit, with the chunky three-spoke steering wheel and full TFT instrument console, looks cool as well.

This new BMW 3-Series is more of an evolutionary design, rather than revolutionary when it comes to the exterior design. However, all the changes which have been introduced in the BMW 3-Series have made it a much sharper looking car than ever before.

The front profile of the BMW 3-Series now looks much in-your-face and flashier than before, thanks to a new set of curved LED headlamps with dual LED projectors, both of which are separated by a kink in the headlamps’ housing. The double kidney grille too has grown in size, however, it still looks sleek and proportional in symphony with the design of the headlamps. The front bumper now looks much more aggressive too, with large sporty looking housings for the slim LED fog lamps. 

The side profile of the BMW 3-Series looks more sophisticated, thanks to its streamlined design, increase in wheelbase and prominent but smooth creases flowing through the doors. The rounded design of the window frames towards the rear restyled outside rearview mirrors look nice as well, thus aiding in overall fine aerodynamics of the car. 

At the back, BMW has completely restyled the tail lamps of the car, which look very sleek and much wide with crisp looking L-shaped LED inserts in them. The lower boot lid hump gives it a more elegant stance, though the rear profile of the car does possess a hint of sportiness in its rear bumper corner inserts and twin exhaust pipes.

The BMW 3-Series has always been known for its sharp handling, thus giving it a good stature of the best entry-level luxury saloon from the perspective of drivers. The new version retains the same quality of the previous one, with the stiffly sprung suspension and BMW’s famed driving experience control leading the charge.

BMW has skipped out on a diesel powertrain for the new seventh-generation 3-Series sedan in the Philippines, and the sedan is being offered in a single petrol automatic variant. A 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine is being offered in 3-Series with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. This engine is capable of putting up a maximum power output of 260 PS and a peak torque output of 400 Nm.

The entry-level BMW 3-Series sedan is loaded with all the crucial bells and whistles when it comes to safety, with the notable inclusions being front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, dynamic stability control, traction control, front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing wipers, reverse camera and follow me home headlamps.

With the sense of sportiness blended well with the evergreen elegance of a traditional 3-Series, the latest BMW 3-Series is one entry-level luxury sedan which shows no compromise when it comes to premium appeal and technologies on board.
