Lexus ES

Like on the outside, the Lexus ES manages to catch your fancy with its uniqueness in its cabin layout too. The use of high-quality materials, posh design themes, and unique cabin layout are the fortes of the cabin of the ES.

The thick three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel as well as the rectangular full TFT instrument console behind it looks great, with the latter showcasing crisp display for all the data on offer. The centre console has an asymmetric layout, with a tapering down triangular design for the lower portion of the centre console housing the buttons for the automatic climate control.

The trapezoidal AC vents are placed above the climate control panel with a sleek silver line flowing across the width of the dashboard. The asymmetrical touchscreen infotainment system looks wide and has a very clear and responsive display, with a small analog clock placed to its right being a nice touch.

All the midsize luxury sedans have their distinctive design languages of their own, and the Lexus ES thankfully too has its own. The overall styling is a combination of low slung stance and sharp and angular design cues which do make it look extravagant and elegant at the same time, unlike others.

The front profile of the Lexus ES has an aggressive theme to it, with Z-shaped full LED headlamps, with headlamps placed on the upper half and daytime running LEDs on the lower ones. The spindle-shaped large front grille, which has become a norm with all the Lexus offerings, looks great here on the ES as well and comes with chrome surrounds and vertically flowing slats, with the grille flowing all the way down to the bottom edge of the front bumper.

The contours of the front bonnet flow beautifully towards the side profile as well, which looks elegant, thanks to the long wheelbase, low stance, and wonderful looking machined alloy wheels. The door-mounted rearview mirrors do look very different with their flowing design, and the premium quotient only increases with chrome surrounds for the window frame.

At the back, the Lexus ES looks suave with the large but sleek triangular LED tail lamps which ate adjoined by a very thin chrome line, which extends over the upper edge of the tail lamps. The dual exhaustion ports too get chrome surrounds to add to the premium appeal of the car when viewed from the rear.

The Lexus ES 350 has been bestowed with independent McPherson struts at the front and trailing wishbone at the rear, both of which are equipped with stabiliser in order to offer a smooth and supple ride quality. As expected from a midsize luxury sedan, one does get multiple drive modes and steering and suspension adjustments as per the requirements of the user onboard.

The Lexus ES 350 sources its power from a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine under its hood. Coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the engine produces a maximum power output of 300 PS and a peak torque output of 357 Nm.

The Lexus cars have been a great example of impeccable safety standards, and the Lexus ES 350 gets a host of them, with front, side, curtain and knee airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, vehicle stability control, electronic parking brake, hill start assist, headlamp auto-leveling, traction control, clearance, and reverse sensors, blind-spot monitoring system, and reverse camera.

The Lexus ES 350 makes a strong statement for itself, with its individualistic appeal in and out, butter-smooth engine and ride quality and sense of style and sophistication, which puts it in a league of its own, giving it its own identity.
