The 4th-Gen BMW X5 is Now Available Locally

The X5 is BMW's first-ever SUV. Launched in 1999, it was immediately apparent that the German car brand sought to make its mark in the luxury SUV category, because not only was the first-gen X5 fun to drive, it offered a commanding driving position, stellar cargo capacity, and enviable ground clearance. Two decades later, BMW introduces the X5's fourth generation, and it is as every bit as winning as the generations that came before it.

SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp., BMW's official importer and distributor in the Philippines, has announced that the latest BMW X5 is now available to the local market. The all-new model comes in a single variant, the BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine. Those looking for more variety may feel disappointed, but there's plenty in this sole available variant to love.

Performance

Powering the 2019 BMW xDrive30d is a 3.0-liter in-line six-cylinder turbodiesel that produces 261 hp and 620 Nm, strong enough to manage 0-100 kph in 6.5 seconds. The award-winning TwinPower Turbo engine sends its power through an eight-speed Steptronic transmission, and on to the BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive. Standard 20-inch light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design help the X5 have the best grip on all kinds of terrain.

Exterior

As for exterior measurements, the 2019 BMW X5 is 1.6 inches longer, 2.6 inches wider and 1 inch taller. LED headlights provide a stunning introduction to the rest of the front end, which features an enlarged one-piece version of the brand's signature kidney grille as its centerpiece. At the back, the taillights come in LED as well. The massive grille, along with the underguard, roof rails, and side window surrounds, come in an exquisite satin anodized aluminum finish. Pearl-effect chrome accents help accentuate the X5's upscale character.

Sheetmetal changes are most obvious in the car's streaked flanks, which ends in a shark's fin shape towards the rear door, helping define the car's equally sporty and beefy profile. A panoramic sunroof adds further upmarket appeal.

Interior

The cabin has been completely retooled from the ground-up, imbued with more interior room and comfort. Front seats are wider, and rear-seat legroom is made more spacious. Good visibility in any direction comes courtesy of the raised seating position, complemented by the optimized ergonomics of the cutting-edge display and control concept of the dash, which sports new switch gear and materials all throughout.

New for 2019 is the 7.0-inch BMW Operating System (OS) display made more user-friendly than ever. The smarter layout helps optimize attention control, while the highly-customizable display offers better ease-of-use.

The BMW OS highlights the BMW Live Cockpit Professional system, which comprises an instrument cluster and Control Display, both are 12.3 inches in size to ensure information is highly visible and displayed in real time. Multimodal features allow the driver to personalize the steering wheel buttons, iDrive Controller, voice/gesture control, and touchscreen display according to preference.

Rear seats fold down in a 40:20:40 configuration, helping to increase boot space from 650 to 1860 liters. A powered liftgate comes in a two-piece design for a more convenient hands-free cargo loading.

The 2019 BMW xDrive30d xLine is available at PHP5,990,000. The all-new vehicle will come with a comprehensive five-year warranty, a first in the luxury automotive segment.
