Designed by Genesis Design studios, the GV80 SUV clearly showcases the design language of Genesis: "Athletic Elegance".

“We enjoyed the challenge to apply ‘Athletic Elegance’ design language to SUV architecture,” said Luc Donckerwolke, Executive Vice President, Chief Design Officer of Hyundai Motor Group. “The precise proportions and attention to every detail denote that GV80 is authentic to Genesis design principles.”

It's a balance of sportiness, power, and luxury, which can be seen everywhere. For instance, the GV80 Crest Grille looks authoritative even when viewed from afar. The side "parabolic lines" are elegantly highlighted by power lines above each wheel. Meanwhile, you can find sophisticated lighting technology in the Quad Lamps.

“The Quad Lamp graphic will become the most recognizable, unique signature of Genesis design, as the simplest of lines communicate a distinct identity," Donckerwolke said. “Two lines will come to define Genesis.”

Meanwhile, the G-Matrix pattern showcased in the light fixtures throughout the exterior is inspird by orchids.

Interior

GV80's interior showcases one of the most common South Korean architectural philosophy: "the beauty of white space". What's more, elegance is also highlighted in the cabin.

“We were able to express a luxurious feel for the interior of GV80 through reductive design and channeling the Korean roots of the Genesis brand,” said SangYup Lee, Senior Vice President, Head of Genesis Design. “The concept of the ‘beauty of white space’ is a hallmark of Korean design.”

The 14.5-inch split-screen infotainment system is located at the center, on top of the dashboard. Genesis kept the number of buttons and switches to a minumum to make it user-friendly and uncluttered.

The center control unit also boast of its uniqu "handwriting recognition" through the Genesis Integrated Controller. Now, users can set a destination or even enter phone numbers simply by using handwritten letters on the writing recognition control system.

Comfort and Convenience

Genesis GV80 is ideal for commuters on the go. Designed to be as stress-free as possible, its augmented reality navigation uses "virtual driving guidelines" over driving images to help drivers spot roads.

It works by displaying the optimal driving path displayed in a virtual graphic on the infotainment screen. This allows the driver to accurately drive along his chosen route with relative ease.

The company also boasts of the very first application of Road-Noise Active Noise Control (RANC) technology in the world. RANC helps to quiet the cabin by analyzing the noise in real time, and lessening road noise by generating sound waves of opposite phases in 0.002 seconds.

Its active motion driver's seat also has seven air cells that help lessen fatigue during long drives. Those who love the comfort of limousines will like its one-touch comfort control that's adjustable from the front row.

Sensitive to air pollution? Then you will like its air purification system. It automatically operates depending on the indoor air quality of the cabin via an in-vehicle fine dust sensor. It can effectively reduce 99 percent of fine particulate matter so the cabin environment remains clean and fresh at all times.

Specification

GV80 is based on a unique rear-wheel-drive platform; all-wheel drive is optional. GV80 will launch in the home market of South Korea with a Genesis-exclusive, 274-hp 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. Maximum torque is at 588 Nm.

GV80 is designed to achieve best-in-class dynamic performance and fuel economy. When equipped as a five-seat model with 19-inch wheels, the rear-wheel-drive diesel GV80 variant returns 11.8 km/l. Two turbocharged gasoline engines will join the lineup shortly after market launch.

Safety

GV80 offers an unparalleled level of safety features designed for passenger security and comfort. They include:

Smart Cruise Control with Machine Learning (SCC-ML), Highway Driving Assist II (HDA II), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA), Rear Cross-traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) , and Driver Attention Alert Warning (DAW). GV80 also includes 10 standard airbags, including a center-mounted airbag between the front occupants to mitigate interior impact.
