MANILA: The NLEX (North Luzon Expressway) Connector shall collect higher toll rates starting tomorrow.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When will the toll rates take effect?

The new toll fees will be implemented starting October 15, 2024.
  • What are the new rates?

The latest toll fee matrix for the NLEX Connector are as follows: P119 for Class 1, P299 for Class 2, and P418 for Class 3.
  • In a statement, NLEX Corporation shared that the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) recently allowed the collection for the revised fees for the said portion. It will take effect on October 15.

Per the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation subsidiary, the adjustment is part of the program to collect the opening toll for the NLEX Connector "on a staggered basis" to cushion the impact to expressway users.

The toll operator noted that the initial rates were applied last year, four months after the opening of the Caloocan to España Section in March.

The original rate continued with the opening of Section 2 from España to Magsaysay Boulevard in October 2023.

“Full rates will be implemented once the NLEX Connector Project is completed,” the company mentioned.

    New toll rates

Here is the new toll rates based on the latest TRB-approved matrix:

    • Class 1 (cars, sport utility vehicles, and motorcycles 400cc and up): P119
    • Class 2 (buses and small trucks): P299
    • Class 3 vehicles (large trucks) P418

According to the NLEX Corporation, travel experience has improved for motorists heading to Manila from the north and vice versa as the all-elevated expressway was able to reduce travel time between C3 in Caloocan and Magsaysay Boulevard in Manila to seven minutes.

Since it improved accessibility to and from the north, the route also provided in boosting job and business opportunities by giving an alternative route for all vehicle classes.

Further, the NLEX Connector gave faster and easier access to the University Belt and its surrounding areas — allowing more people residing in the north to go to Metro Manila.
