Typhoon Tisoy's Estimated Damage reaches P2.272-M

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has estimated that around Php 2.727 million worth of damages to roads, bridges, flood control, other public buildings.

Up to now, nine national roads in Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Region 2, and Region 5 are being cleared after it has became impassable to all types of vehicles following the onslaught of Typhoon Tisoy.

In a monitoring report dated December 10, 2019 of the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance to  Secretary Mark Villar, a total 48 out of 57 road sections affected by the recent typhoon and continuous rain have been cleared and are now passable to all types of vehicles.

Some six road sections in CAR are undergoing clearing operations after being rendered impassable due to road slip, soil slides, soil collapse, and bridge collapse along the municipalities of Balbalan and Tanudan in Kalinga; Tinoc, Ifugao; and Calanasan, Apayao.

In Region 2, a portion of Manila North Road along Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan, the Sanchez Mira Bridge, and the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Overflow Bridge in Isabela are closed to all types of vehicles due to washed out middle pier, scoured embankment protection, series of landslide, and mudflow and high-water level.

Those going to Sanchez Mira, Cagayan may take the Sanchez Mira Bypass Road while motorists travelling to Isabela may use Daang Maharlika via Tuguegarao City as an alternate route.

A temporary detour road is now being constructed for those passing through the damaged La Medalla Bridge in the municipality of Pio Duran, Albay to facilitate faster disaster response to affected areas.
