UK-Bound Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition Has Sold Out

Civic Type R Limited Edition
With only 20 units destined for the British Isles, the New Civic Type R Limited Edition has sold out in the UK before any Englishman has laid their eyes on the car or known its price. Honda UK announced that its entire allocation of 20 Civic Type R Limited Editions are no longer available for purchase, positioning the car as one of the rarest cars to drive on UK roads this year once they arrive.

With a starting price of GBP 39,995 (approx. PHP 2.39 million) the Civic Type R Limited Edition, which Honda calls “the purest expression of Type R to date,” features new lightweight components, a stripped-back interior, enhanced driving dynamics and distinct styling. Only 100 Limited Edition Type Rs will be made available to the European market. Built for improved track performance, the Civic Type R Limited Edition features a custom Phoenix Yellow paint job as well as other unique attributes, including lightweight 20-inch BBS forged alloy wheels, specially tuned dampers, recalibrated steering and stand-out styling. The car also boasts further weight reduction of approximately 47 kilograms accomplished via reduced sound deadening materials and removal of the rear wiper, tonneau cover, and rear heater ducts.

Additional model-exclusive treatment includes contrasting gloss black paint on the roof, outside mirror caps, and intake vent on the hood, along with a dark chrome Civic badge on the rear hatch. As for power, the 2021 Civic Type R Limited Edition draws it from the same race-bred 2.0-liter direct-injected and turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with VTEC valvetrain installed in the standard Civic Type R, putting out a peak 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque, with power to the front wheels delivered through a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission and limited-slip differential. The good news is that Honda brought two limited editions to Europe, so for those who couldn’t get their hands on the Type R Limited Edition, there’s still the Honda Civic Type R Sport Line available for purchase.
2020 Civic Type R Sport Line hondanews.eu
The Europe-exclusive Civic Type R Sport Line model combines outstanding performance with stealthier design. Designed to appeal to a customer who seeks a less flashy look from their performance hatchback, the Civic R Sport Line features a low height rear spoiler, 19-inch alloys and black interior, and retains the outstanding performance that is a trademark of Type R models. We can only hope that Honda Cars Philippines Inc (HCPI), if not their regional counterpart, would consider bringing rarities such as these to the country, same with the 2020 Civic Type R in the US, but with such a limited run, it’s a safe bet that this is never going to happen.
