Volkswagen PH to launch new Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Golf variants this May
Volkswagen Philippines has announced that it will launch two new versions of its popular passenger car models, the Volkswagen Jetta and the Volkswagen Golf, by the end of the month. According to the German carmaker, this is in line with its 2017 goal "of doubling the record-breaking sales output in 2016, thus solidifying its leading position among European brands."
One of the Volkswagen Jetta's main selling point is that it's the only diesel model in its segment, with a 2.0-liter Turbocharged Direct Injection (TDI) diesel engine mated to a six-speed DSG transmission which produces 148 hp and 340 Nm of torque.
Four variants of the Volkswagen Jetta will be made available: the range-topping Business Edition+ (P1.3 million), Business Edition (P1.25 million), Highline (P1.2 million), and Comfortline (P1.1 million).
The Business Edition+ and Business Edition are equipped with Bi-Xenon headlights, Adaptive Front Lighting System, and LED daytime running lights but only the Business Edition+ has Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Alert with Lane Assist, and Front Assist with Forward Collision Warning. The Highline also receives 17-inch Lancaster alloy wheels and front fog lights. Standard for all variants though is the sunroof.
For the interior, the Business Edition+, Business Edition, and Highline feature the Fender eight-speaker sound system, dual zone Climatronic air-conditioning, rain sensor, and a six-way power driver's seat with adjustable lumbar support. Standard for all variants are leather seats, Keyless-Go with Push Start and the 5.8-inch Touchscreen Color Display Audio.
Available exterior colors for the Jetta are Black, Platinum Gray, Toffee Brown, Cardinal Red Metallic, Reflex Silver, Blue Silk, Pure White, and Moon Rock Silver. The black interior is offered for all while the beige interior is also available for the Business Edition+, Business Edition and Highline.
As for the Volkswagen Golf, it will be offered with a wagon body style dubbed as the Golf GTS (Grand Touring Sport) that, with the rear seats folded down, has 350 liters more cargo space than the hatchback version. Powering the GTS is the same engine used in the Jetta: a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine mated to a six-speed DSG transmission that puts out 148 hp and 340 Nm of torque.
The Volkswagen Golf GTS is available in two variants: the Business Edition+ (P1.4 million) and the Business Edition (P1.35 million).
Volkswagen dealers are now reportedly accepting reservations for the Jetta and Golf GTS, "with units expected to be delivered by end of May."
