The Ranger Wildtrak X is an accessories pack that has only been launched for a few months, and it’s already been proving itself to be just as formidable as any other variant Ford has in their lineup. Already available in Australia, the Wildtrak X is Ford’s effort in combining their two truck variants. Ford claims that the Wildtrak X is “a more off road focused, highly capable and outdoors oriented model, combining Ranger’s capability with the comfort, convenience, and high spec of the Wildtrak.”
The Australian-spec Wildtrak X is rugged, aggressive and handsome, even more so than the standard Wildtrak variant as it comes fitted with 18 inch alloy wheels with +35mm offset in matte black finish, black fender flares, a factory standard A-pillar mountain snorkel, a black nudge bar with an LED light bar, and an overall blacked out look. Getting inside the cabin, the Wildtrak X features leather-appointed seats with orange stitching providing a nice stark contrast in the otherwise dark themed interior, an 8 inch infotainment system, a three spoke steering wheel with audio controls, and keyless entry. Safety features include autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, hill descent control, hill start assist, tire pressure monitoring, and active park assist. There are two available engine options for the Wildtrak X in Australia, a 3.2 liter, 5 cylinder turbo-diesel engine that makes 197 hp and 470 Nm of torque, while the other 2.0 liter, 4 Cylinder bi-turbo diesel engine makes 210 hp and 500 Nm of torque.
Truck enthusiasts in the country are understandably excited to welcome this brand new beast to our shores. We can only hope that Ford bridges the gap between their two pickup models by integrating the Wildtrak X into their lineup.
