BAIC B60 Beaumont

While the B60s exterior isn't very impressive, the interior more than compensates. The first eye-catching element is the three-row frame, which allows for a full seven-seater configuration. The second feature that sets it apart is the fully automatic panoramic sunroof. It also includes a fully digital instrument panel and a touchscreen infotainment system. Additional features include a 12-speaker system and a three-zone climate control system. Its seating also showcases a mix of leather and fabric upholstery, with soft-touch, textured, and molded features that work together to offer the perfect touch of class with a no-nonsense dash of practicality.

The BAIC B60 Beaumont is basically a 'supersized' Ragnar. It follows the same rugged aesthetic, with the same focus on imposing features such as a muscular fender, aggressive front fascia, and cladding around the wheel wells. It does have a touch more sophistication than its smaller sibling thanks to the tasteful application of chrome accents throughout the vehicle, along with the liberal use of tastefully designed LED lighting, and power-folding side mirrors with integrated turn signals. 

The singular option of a light slate-grey paint job does make the B60 Beaumont’s palette a little drab, but it lends itself to a sleek and modern appeal that might strike the fancy of some enthusiasts who are looking for a less glaring aesthetic. Additional color palettes might have already been made available since its initial release, but options might vary depending on the dealership (if at all available). 

The B60 Beaumont’s 5040 mm length, 1955 mm width, and 1925 mm height also provide excellent ground clearance for off-road driving. The inclusion of practical roof rails and a panoramic sunroof keeps the overall build a practical one. The whole is rounded off by a sporty rear spoiler with the same lighting features showcased in its front.  

The Beaumont’s size alone will attest to it being an excellent off-road vehicle, but it doesn’t shy away from being a good city and highway vehicle as well. With an emphasis on comfort, the B60 Beaumont’s suspension prioritizes shock absorption, making it ideal for both on and off-road driving. It may display some body roll when tackling corners at high speed, and its size might make fine maneuvering somewhat of a learning curve, but these are negligible issues. Its 4WD system provides an additional degree of safety and control thanks to the extra traction it provides, especially on loose or slippery surfaces.  

The B60 Beaumont comes with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Capable of between 159 and 161 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, it is further bolstered by a part-time 4WD with a rear-locking differential.

The B60 Beaumont comes with all the standard safety features most modern SUVs sport, with the exception of the digital park assist and lane departure warning features, which might have been a good inclusion considering its overall size. It doesn’t have the most comprehensive safety suite for its price point and type and lacks driver assistance features that would otherwise be a default inclusion with similar models from other marques, but it does provide a decent enough roster of features, all things considered. 

If you’re looking for a slightly more affordable SUV than the run-of-the-mill options out now, the BAIC B60 Beaumont might be a good option. But with a very small differential margin with regards to total price, and with limited features in spite of said price-point, it might not be the best value for money.
