BMW iX

Similar to other newer-gen BMW models, the iX also features a luxurious cabin that offers state-of-the-art technology and comfort features. Inside, it has a natural leather design suite that just exudes sophistication. Its headliner Anthracite electric seats with memory function can give you and all your passengers supportive cushioning and class-leading ergonomics. One of this car’s minor issues, however, is its lack of adequate leg/thigh room in its second row. Hence, fitting three tall and large passengers at the rear will definitely be a challenge. But, overall, you’ll get that first-class experience inside its cabin courtesy of its ambient lighting and an automatic 4-zone air conditioning system.

BMW really exerted a huge amount of effort in equipping the iX with cutting-edge technological features. In the front row, it has the brand’s signature widescreen display that showcases a 12.3-inch instrument cluster for the driver and a 14.9-inch central infotainment display that has a BMW iDrive feature for seamless user interface and the activation of an intelligent digital assistant. Its infotainment system also has smartphone integration and is linked to a premium Harman Kardon surround sound system, which effectively ensures that everyone on board is well-entertained even during long trips.

Despite its controversial appearance, the BMW iX’s exterior design remains luxurious and just downright functional, in my opinion. One of the strongest points of its facade is its iconic kidney grille that actually functions as an intelligent surface that contains the vehicle’s camera technology, radar functions, and cutting-edge sensor technology and heating elements. This kidney grille is one of the highlights of its adoption of BMW’s “ShyTech” concept. Additionally, the iX sports twin LED headlights, which are the narrowest that BMW has ever produced. Consequently, this distinctive flare separates you from other vehicles on the road, most especially at night. 

On the sides, it has flush door handles, frameless doors, and a window outline, which the brand calls “Streamflow.” These features give this luxury sports activity EV a striking hypermodern silhouette that could definitely captivate the attention of many. If you happen to follow this vehicle while on the go, you will definitely notice its large diffuser and flat underbody, both of which are designed to improve range and enhance the overall aerodynamics of the car.

The BMW iX measures 4,953 mm in length, 1,967 mm in width, 1,695 mm in height, and 3,000 mm in wheelbase. This car runs on a set of 21-inch 1010 Bicolour 3D polished wheels that improve its overall aerodynamics.

Similar to its cousins, the BMW iX also utilizes air suspensions for both front and rear. For a car with a bulky stature, the iX offers light handling and responsive maneuvering, both of which make it an enjoyable vehicle that is easy-to-drive both in the city and on the highway. You can also get a decent amount of engagement from this sports activity EV especially when hitting turns or corners. Overall, this car can offer a smooth and very comfortable ride for you and your family.

The BMW iX is powered by the brand’s Fifth-generation eDrive technology that utilizes two powerful electric synchronous motors, producing a maximum power output of 326 hp and a maximum torque of 630 Nm. It is also equipped with a lithium-ion battery that has a 71 kWh net energy capacity and a maximum driving range (WLTP) of up to 425 kms. Its battery has a direct current (DC) fast charging time of up to 80% in less than 40 minutes. The EV comes with a single-speed automatic transmission with fixed ratio and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system.

This luxury sports activity EV performs really well on the open road since its electric powertrain has great power delivery. It also comes with multiple standard safety and security features. In terms of braking, it utilizes ventilated discs for both front and rear. Its braking setup is secured by an anti-lock braking system, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, cornering brake control, and hill descent control.

Although it is a bit on the pricier side of things, the BMW iX would undoubtedly make a great daily family vehicle if you prioritize comfort and functionality more than anything. Its road performance and state-of-the-art technology will definitely not disappoint you and everyone on board.
