Changan Alsvin

Like its exterior, the Changan Alsvin’s cabin layout is also pretty straightforward. It has leather seats that provide decent cushioning for B-segment standards. Its front row is also pretty spacious. However, its second row space is a different story. Three tall and large passengers will not be able to comfortably fit in the second row. But, this downside is not that significant since this is a common issue for entry-level sedans in the market.

In terms of entertainment, it comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display with multimedia capacity. Honestly, its infotainment system needs an update since it still doesn’t have common modern features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. But, to make up for this lack of modernity, its higher trim variant has a powered sunroof for an aesthetic lighting inside this car.

The Changan Alsvin’s exterior design is a great balance of simplicity and elegance. It is not flashy or loud like other sedans in the market, but it definitely exudes a trustworthy demeanor. At the front, it has a butterfly wing radiator grille that gives it a really nice facade for its price point. It comes with projector-type Halogen headlights and DRLs. On the sides, it has character lines, which give its silhouette more definition. It also has side mirror repeaters. 

This sedan runs on 15-inch alloy wheels. In terms of dimensions, the Changan Alsvin line is 4,390 mm in length, 1,725 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height and spans a 2,535 mm wheelbase.

The Changan Alsvin utilizes a MacPherson Strut suspension at the front and a Torsion Beam at the rear. Its suspension system contributes to its practicality and cost-efficiency. Considering its price point, it delivers a relatively comfortable cruising experience in the city. It has a decent absorption of road bumps and a beginner-friendly steering. The Alsvin is certainly designed for everyday commuting.

The Changan Alsvin offers two engine options and transmissions. First, its lower trim variant is powered by a 1.4L BlueCore gasoline engine that produces a maximum power output of 99 hp and a maximum torque of 135 Nm. This variant runs on 5-speed manual transmission.

On the other hand, the higher trim is powered by the 1.5L version of the engine that has a maximum power output of 105 hp and a maximum torque of 145 Nm. This variant runs on 5-speed dual clutch transmission. Both variants utilize a front-wheel drive system. Surprisingly, this also has a sport mode.

Considering the numbers, it is not the fastest and most powerful among its class. Some might even find the acceleration and the shifting response of the vehicle too lackluster. But, if you prioritize practicality, this sedan certainly delivers in that category. It is fuel-efficient and reliable for everyday use. 

Safety is not an issue with the Changan Alsvin. It is equipped with dual front airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, hill hold control, cruise control (for higher variant only), and a blind spot camera, which totally makes this car worthy of attention. On top of this, it also has a reverse camera with auxiliary lines. In terms of braking, it doesn’t have ABS or EBD, but it does have an electronic stability program. 

The Changan Alsvin would make a great vehicle for first-time car owners and individuals who are on a budget. Considering its budget-friendly price point, its inclusions certainly outweigh its shortcomings and outdated features.
