Chevrolet Trailblazer

Upon entering the 3rd-generation Chevrolet Trailblazer, you’ll notice the jet black-themed interior which is common among Chevrolet cars. The minimalist dashboard and seats equipped with leather upholstery and Victorian Herringbone Interior Accent are not too flashy but can give you a nice classic and premium feeling inside. The car is also equipped with advanced technological features such as an 8-inch Chevrolet MyLink Infotainment System that has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth as its head unit, six speakers, dual USB and single AUX ports, and exclusive to the driver, is a push start/stop ignition system and a 3.5-inch driver information console.

One of the strengths of this model is its spaciousness. The cabin offers a generous amount of legroom and has enough area to accommodate three passengers on the second row, making this crossover a good choice in terms of comfort. Meanwhile, the headroom is decent but could be better. But, similar to the Camaro, the downside of its interior is its cramped rear, which could hinder the driver’s visibility while on the road. In addition to this, only the front section has air conditioning. Consequently, this could be unpleasant for those seated on the second row.

The trademark of the latest-generation Chevrolet Trailblazer is its Camaro-inspired front fascia that gives it a sporty look for a crossover. Both the LT and Premium are sporting the brand’s iconic active grille shutters and a pair of LED DRLs in the front. Meanwhile, at the back, both are equipped with spoilers, which makes this look appealing to car enthusiasts at the present time. However, the difference between the two variants is noticeable. The Premium is equipped with LED head, high mount stop, and tail lamps, whereas the LT has the same set of equipment but with a halogen material. The front and rear skid plates of the Premium are silver, while the LT’s are black. Also, only the Premium is equipped with LED front fog lamps, roof rail, and a hands-free power liftgate with LED logo projection light.

Although there are a handful of differences between the exteriors of the two variants, both are designed to stand out with their smart and sophisticated appearance. The 3rd-generation Trailblazer runs on a set of 17-inch aluminum wheels and has a length of 4,408 mm, width of 1,808 mm, and height of 2,052 mm. It also has a wheelbase of 2,640 mm and a ground clearance of 178 mm. It is important to point out that the ground clearance for this model is a great feature. For a crossover, it is able to withstand rough roads and floods thanks to this. 

Now, in terms of suspension, the Chevrolet Trailblazer is equipped with a MacPherson Strut at the front and a Torsion Beam at the rear. For its class, it provides the driver with nimble maneuvering and light steering. Hence, if you are looking for a crossover to use for daily city driving, then this car is a good choice.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is hauled by a 1.3L, GM three-cylinder, E-Turbo engine that produces a maximum power output of 155 hp and a maximum torque output of 236 Nm. This car makes use of a CVT transmission and a FWD drive wheel. On city roads, this car is fuel-efficient thanks to its engine stop/start system with an auto stop disable switch. Aside from this, it also has a race mode option, which could definitely help it compete with other crossovers in terms of speed and acceleration. That said, this car offers a good performance overall for a subcompact crossover.

The Chevrolet Trailblazer is well-equipped with hi-tech safety features. It is made with advanced driver assistance systems, which are designed to make it much more reliable to use (compared to its predecessors) when bringing along family and other people. Its ADAS consists of following distance indicator, automatic emergency and front pedestrian braking mechanisms, tire pressure monitoring system, alerts for forward collision, lane change with side blind zone, rear cross traffic, and tire fill, and assistance systems for lane keeping and rear parking. This model also comes with standard safety features, multiple brake assist systems, and enhanced stability control.

The spacious cabin, good ground clearance, and advanced safety and technological features give the Chevrolet Trailblazer a shot to compete against other subcompact crossovers available in the country. In terms of pricing, it is placed in the middle since some subcompact crossovers are cheaper, while others are more expensive. However, I believe that the positive aspects that I mentioned above would be able to justify the cost of this car.
