Geely Azkarra

The interior cabin of the Geely Azkarra has got a futuristic vibe to it, thanks to the very fresh looking layout comprising of all the traits of modern interior design themes. The cabin is finished in a dual-tone theme of black and brown, which makes the cabin feel properly premium.

The flat bottom multi-functional steering wheel, as well as fully digital instrument console having multiple display options, make up for a very cool looking driver’s cockpit. The extremely wide center console incorporating a cool looking touchscreen infotainment system, with a layered theme for the AC vents above it, make the cabin look very wide.

The slanted theme for the center transmission tunnel, which houses a range of buttons and transmission lever and getting bulged side extensions, too make the things quite distinctive here.

Despite its rather compact proportions in front of full-spec SUVs, the Geely Azkarra has got nice proportions, with its distinctive styling helping it in gaining a strong road presence.

At the front, the Geely Azkarra has got a wide fascia, comprising of a stretched Cosmos grille, which is made up of three wide pentagonal chrome patterns one inside the other. While this face does manage to make the Azkarra look wide and imposing from the front, it looks a bit awkward and out of context. The angular headlamps, however, look smart with their contemporary LED lighting pattern. What adds more substance to the front profile is the rugged-looking front bumper, comprising of tough-looking body cladding and a thick silver skid plate.

It is from the sides where the Geely Azkarra impresses the most, with a good mix of curvy and sharp design lines. Say for instance, while the front fender has a curvy design that looks smooth, this curve joins the sharp character line flowing through the doors of the SUV, giving it a unique sense of continuity. Another thing which looks modern here is the kink rising post the B-pillar, with the entire shoulder line finished in chrome. The lower portion of the doors too has got a sleek chrome lining in the middle of the side body cladding, which also flows above the wheel arches as well.

At the back, the Geely Azkarra has a sporty rear spoiler as well as curved LED tail lamps, the latter of which are positioned slightly upwards, making the boot lid design slightly wider and stubbier. This is accentuated further by the high loading lip, with the rear bumper getting a thicker skid plate as compared to the front.

The Geely Azkarra has got a good ride height and ground clearance, which gives it the driving attributes of a proper SUV – commanding seating posture and tough ride quality over broken patches of roads. However, the high center of gravity does creep in a bit of body roll, which can make the ride quality bouncy at high cornering speeds.

The Geely Azkarra has got a punchy 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which makes a maximum power output of 190 PS and a peak torque output of 300 Nm. These figures do make it the most powerful and torquey engine in its class. This engine is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.

The safety equipment list of the Geely Azkarra is pretty decent too, with the midsize SUV getting an array of features such as front, side, and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, traction control, electronic stability control, all four-wheel disc brakes, electric parking brake, hill start assist and hill descent control.

The Geely Azkarra definitely looks fresh, with a modern take in its exterior and interior styling. The SUV feels superior when it comes to engine performance too, having the most powerful engine in its class, under its hood. Barring a minute rough edges in its ride and handling department, the Geely Azkarra makes a strong case for itself as a good urban SUV.
