Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM

The Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM features a detailed-looking cabin that is fitted with a combination of premium creature comforts and rugged, outdoorsy trims. The Standard trim comes with a 580-L minimum trunk capacity, while the Panda trim offers a lower 475 liters of space. On the plus side, five adult passengers can comfortably fit inside the cabin, thanks to this SUV's generous amounts of headroom and legroom. Its leather seats are plush and supportive, while front row occupants can also enjoy a ventilation function for their seats.

Up front, the driver has access to a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a sport-contoured multi-function steering wheel wrapped in leather, and a classy crystal gear handle. The driver’s seat is also equipped with a 6-way electric adjustment function and 4-way lumbar support for elevated comfort on longer trips.

Meanwhile, all passengers can enjoy a Qualcomm Snapdragon-supported 15.6-inch high-resolution color touchscreen infotainment system that has Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a four-zone voice control feature, and is linked to a 12-speaker SONY sound system with a trunk subwoofer. For added convenience, this SUV also comes with front and rear USB/Type-C ports, a trunk storage box, and a wireless phone charger, among others.

The Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM features a boxy design reminiscent of the Land Rover Defender, giving it a rugged yet modern appearance. At the front, it sports hypermodern-looking adaptive headlights with LED daytime running lights (DRLs). Underneath, it also gets a pair of LED fog lights, which ensure that the driver has maximum visibility on the road at all times. Additionally, the illuminated “JETOUR” lettering on the black grille adds a premium touch to its overall appearance.

On the sides, the Panda trim flaunts a sportier, more brash-looking profile, highlighted by its side sills with a bulged scale-like pattern and 20-inch alloy wheels with blacked-out rims. Meanwhile, the Standard trim is fitted with the silver-rimmed 20-inch counterparts. Both trims, however, get built-in step boards for easier passenger ingress and egress, as well as luggage racks for additional storage compartments.

Furthermore, it exudes a modern-classic vibe at the rear, thanks to its two-tone full-size spare tyre cover and ribbed panels finished in gloss black. It features geometric LED tail lights and a side-opening electric tailgate for more modernity.

In terms of dimensions, both trims of the Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM measure 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, and 2,800 mm in wheelbase. The higher-spec Panda measures 1,880 mm in height and has a ground clearance of 220 mm, while the Standard trim is 1,875 mm tall and sits 205 mm above the ground.

The Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM model line is equipped with a MacPherson independent suspension at the front and a Multi-Link independent-type at the rear. This setup does an excellent job of smoothing out bumpy, uneven concrete pavements and light rocky and muddy terrain, resulting in a comfortable riding experience both in the city and on rural roads. While it may not be the sportiest and most confident through twists and turns, it still handles quite decently for its size.

Both trims of the Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM are equipped with a dual-motor plug-in hybrid powertrain, but they feature different engine displacements, transmissions, and drivetrains. First, the higher-spec Panda’s dual-motor setup is paired with a 2.0L inline 4-cylinder, 16-valve turbocharged gasoline engine, producing a combined maximum power output of 251 hp and a combined maximum torque output of 390 Nm. This trim comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch (automatic) transmission system and utilizes a four-wheel drivetrain.

On the other hand, the Standard trim’s dual-motor setup is paired with the 1.5L version of the same engine, delivering a higher combined power of 375 hp and a combined torque of 615 Nm. The Standard trim runs on 3-speed dedicated hybrid transmission and utilizes a front-wheel drivetrain. 

Both trims, however, are fitted with a 26.7-kWh Lithium-Iron Phosphate battery that offers a 139-km NEDC pure electric range. The T2 Lightning i-DM model line’s plug-in hybrid powertrain offers a total combined range of over 1,000 kilometers. Regardless of the powertrain, this SUV offers plenty of power and torque on tap for quick highway overtakes and steep rural inclines. It feels exhilarating yet refined at high speeds while remaining efficient in city driving conditions. Overall, the T2 Lightning i-DM offers both excitement and touring capabilities.

The Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM is equipped with multiple advanced driver assistance systems such as blind spot detection, an anti-rollover control system, forward and rear collision warning, integrated cruise assistance, traffic jam assistance, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking radars, and a 360-degree camera with a panoramic image, among others. This plug-in hybrid SUV also comes with front and rear disc brakes supported by advanced emergency braking and cornering brake control.

The Jetour T2 Lightning i-DM successfully blends plug-in hybrid efficiency with the rugged styling and practicality of a midsize SUV, making it an appealing option for families and individuals with a go-anywhere personality.
