Mitsubishi Pajero Review
Mitsubishi Pajero Overview
The Mitsubishi Pajero is iconic in the Philippines and it is actually seen as a luxury sports car. This is mainly because of its appearance on various Filipino action movies being depicted as the vehicle of rich and famous businessmen and politicians.
This full-size sports utility vehicle is known in various names like in Spain and the Americas, it is called Montero and Shogun in the United Kingdom. Its name was derived from Leopardus Pajeros or the Pampas cat, a small wild cat native in South America.
Introduced as a sports car back in time, In January 1983, the first Pajero debuted at the Paris Dakar Rally, taking first place in 1985 at only the third attempt. Other wins followed, at events such as the Australasian Safari and Northern Forest. It is known for its amazing styling, sophistication, and reliable driving performance. The all-new Pajero is clad with distinctive styling cues and improved performance with 4WD that makes it always ready to zoom in off-roads and thoroughfares.
Pajero is available in one variant which is the GLS 3.2 Di-D 4WD AT that is priced at P 3 Million with eight available colors namely Red, Black Mica, Gray Metallic, Beige Metallic, White Metallic, Quartz Brown, Solid White, and Cool Silver Metallic.
Mitsubishi Pajero Interior
Pop the doors open and you will be greeted by a simple yet ergonomically designed interior. The seats are clad with white leather material and 4-way power-adjustable passenger seats as well as a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. It also has moulded door trims with silver and carbon fiber accents.
The four-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knobs with a piano black accent have audio and climate control while the instrument console is in the form of high-contrast backlit meters with red illumination. This actually adds to the sporty aura of the car which is amazing and eye-pleasing at the same time.
Going to the central console, its overall design actually resembles a cockpit of a modern car with the 6.9-inch LCD Touchscreen Monitor as the main highlight. It features a multimedia entertainment system with GPS System Navigation Technology, Audio/Video Jack, and USB Port. Below are the controls for the Tuner and the Automatic Climate Control System while on both sides are the central aircon vents. Each wheel of this SUV can raise, lower, and pivot independently to keep the tire on the ground for better stability.
Mitsubishi Pajero Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering this mammoth is the 3.2L 4 In-Line 16-Valve Turbocharged and Intercooled VGT Di-Diesel with Variable Geometry Turbo. The Variable Geometry Turbocharger with a variable vane turbine provides optimal boost pressure control for different driving conditions. It helps achieve greater fuel efficiency as well as better acceleration so it’s a definite plus for this car! This mill setup can fire up to 192 PS at 3,800 rpm and 441 Nm torque at 2000 rpm.
It also has a cyclone type pre-air cleaner that increases air draw while keeping dust and water out of the intake. This allows your engine to perform at its best no matter the road condition that makes Pajero the master of all terrains.
Pajero’s engine is mated with INVECS-II 5-speed automatic transmission with Sports Mode. The INVECS-II adapts to your driving behaviour that results in accurate and smooth gear shifts. Therefore it will reduce the chances of unwanted upshifts and downshifts for smoother and quicker shifts whenever you want them.
Meanwhile, the Super Select 4WD of Pajero delivers superior off-road performance as it offers the advantage of a 4-wheel drive setting. A shift-on-the-fly capability is included in the system which allows the driver to immediately adjust his gear range based on the road conditions.

For added strength and safety, Pajero was built with Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) Body that is designed to disperse the force of impact away from the cabin thereby minimizing cabin deformation that keeps the driver and passenger safe. It is also installed with Mitsubishi Active Stability and Traction Control or M-ASTC that prevents the car wheels from skidding during adverse conditions or emergency maneuvers.
Other safety features include front dual-stage airbags, side-impact beams, collapsible propeller shaft, safety design fuel tank, ISOFIX, and reverse camera with guidelines.
