Adventure bike that feels manageable
For someone who is new to adventure bikes, the F-800-GS seemed like the best choice for the mix of roads and dirt tracks in the Philippines. It's big, but very easy to move around with. It was fine on the rough Tanay dirt roads; the suspension didn't mind the rocks. The 800 cc twin has enough power to pass on the highway, but it doesn't feel too heavy like the 1250. It also uses little gas—I get about 21 km/l when I ride it slowly. The F-800-GS has given me the confidence to explore Luzon's backroads, though the seat could be more comfortable on longer rides.
