For its expensive starting price, the interior of the Ford Explorer is slightly underwhelming. The interior layout is a little dull and lacks a modern youthful appearance that is already common in newer generation car models. This car is equipped with an 8-inch capacitive touchscreen with swipe capability that looks a little old-fashioned (despite offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto). 

Although, this model still gives a relatively premium feeling inside since it has multi-color ambient lighting, illuminated entry, auto-dimming rear view mirror, and a tri-zone automatic temperature control system. On top of this, it is also equipped with a 12-speaker B&O sound system by Bang & Olufsen. It is highly likely that all passengers will enjoy the acoustics inside this car. 

In terms of seating, it is equipped with leather seating surfaces with micro perforation and accent stitching. Front row seats are heated and ventilated, while second row seats are heated only and with a bench that has an E-Z entry and armrest. Meanwhile, the third row has powerfoldable seats. However, it is important to note that the third row in this model is cramped and slightly lacking adequate space that would allow passengers to move with ease. To complete the premium look of this model’s interior, a black carpet is placed at the front and second rows as a floor mat. 

Looking from the outside, the Ford Explorer’s bright silver-painted mesh grille insert with chrome bars gives it a sparkling face card that is definitely eye-catching even when parked. This model is equipped with LED headlamps and front fog lamps at the front. Meanwhile, at the rear, it has LED taillamps with amber turn signals and a spoiler, which add to its classy and, at the same time, sporty appearance. 

On the sides, it has body-color door handles. Above, it has a twin-panel moonroof for additional aesthetics and natural ventilation, and satin roof-rack side rails, which provide extra cargo space for those who frequently go on trips with loved ones. Driving this car on urban roads is a breeze since it has good absorption of bumps. Fuel consumption aside, this car is a comfortable daily mode of transportation whether on urban or rural roads. 

The Ford Explorer is powered by a 2.3L, EcoBoost engine with an auto start-stop technology that reduces its fuel consumption and lowers emissions. This engine produces a maximum power output of 304 PS and a maximum torque of 420 Nm. 

The SUV is equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission and utilizes an Intelligent 4WD with Terrain Management system, which offers seven selectable drive modes. This terrain management system allows the driver to align one’s mode of driving to the road he or she is running on. This feature ensures that the vehicle provides the best driving performance possible on any kind of terrain. However, this car’s fuel economy could still be better.

The Ford Explorer can compete with the best of its class when safety is the topic of discussion. It is made with Ford’s Co-Pilot360 Technology that provides systems for lane-keeping, front and rear sensing, and navigation, as well as assistance mechanisms for pre-collision, evasive steering, lane-keeping, hill starting, and reverse braking. This model is also equipped with intelligent adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and lane centering, as well as hill descent control and post-collision braking.
