2 oil firms pledge to support free ride for health workers thru MECQ
The 'bayanihan spirit' still lives in the companies in the country—and this is proven again by way of free fuel for the transportation needs of our medical frontliners.
Two oil firms further boosted their efforts to support the provision of free transportation to the country’s health workers until August 18 by providing free fuel to the bus units participating in the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) Free Ride Service for Health Workers Program.
Oil firms CleanFuel and Petron Corporation gave their commitment to provide fuel for several transport vehicle units after President Rodrigo Duterte announced that Metro Manila and nearby provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, and Rizal will be under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from August 4-18.
With the renewed pledge, transport firms that joined the government program may continue to avail of the fuel provision from the two companies to help transport health personnel and other medical frontline workers attend to their respective duties.
CleanFuel will allocate 40 Liters for 20 vehicle units everyday while Petron is giving 50 liters of fuel to 60 vehicle units per day.
“The fuel donations of CleanFuel and Petron Corporation will be a big help in continuing the Free Ride Service for our health workers. Nagpapasalamat kami sa suporta ng CleanFuel at Petron upang maipagpatuloy ng Kagawaran ang pagtulong sa pangangailangang pantransportasyon ng ating mga health workers, para makarating ng ligtas sa kanilang medical community. Gaya nga ng madalas mabanggit ni Secretary Tugade, ipinapakita lang ‘ho nito na sa laban sa pagsugpo sa COVID-19, kailangan ng pagkakaisa. Wala talagang iwanan,” DOTr Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs Artemio Tuazon Jr. said.
The Free Ride Service for Health Workers program had already reached a total ridership of 1,426,885 nationwide as of August 2. Since March 18, it has assisted 418,226 workers from the National Capital Region, while 1,008,659 are from other regions outside Metro Manila.
