KEY TAKEAWAYS
How much power does the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD make?
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD makes 470hp with 1,322Nm of torque. When will Chevrolet start producing the 2024 Silverado HD?
According to Chevrolet, the production of the 2024 Silverado HD will commence in the first half of 2023.“We’ve designed the Silverado HD to be our customers’ favored choice for true truck capability. The enhancements to the 2024 model build on its core strengths to provide an even stronger balance of the design, strength, and confidence that makes tackling the hard jobs, including trailering, easier and more convenient than ever,” said Chevrolet Vice President (VP) Scott Bell.
One of the key upgrades to the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD is its updated powerplant. Under its spacious hood is a beefy 6.6-liter engine.
Per Chevrolet, the engine was subjected to mild changes and updates to produce more efficient combustion, which enhances overall performance. Engineers, said the General Motors (GM)-owned brand, enhanced low-end torque production by up to 25 percent for improved performance at low speeds or climbing grades — particularly when trailering.
The upgraded mill is mated to the standard Allison 10-speed automatic transmission.
This setup gives the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD a maximum power output of 470 horsepower (hp) with 1,322Nm of pulling power.
All that power and torque is reflected in the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD’s commanding presence. Its exterior updates include a new front fascia, new headlights, a new grille, standard tow hooks, and bold “CHEVROLET” lettering on the hood scoop.
New wheel and tire options for the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD include a set of 18-inch polished aluminum wheels shod with all-terrain tires, 20-inch bright chrome wheels, and 20-inch off-road tires.
Chevrolet also upgraded the interior of the 2024 Silverado HD. Select models of the updated pickup truck get a dramatically redesigned passenger space centered around an all-new 12.3-inch-diagonal configurable instrument panel and an expansive 13.4-inch infotainment screen.
This smarter command center also includes a redesigned wireless phone charger area to reduce distractions and a flow-under console. The latter design provides the spaciousness of a bench seat while retaining the functionality of a center console. Ahead of the driver is an available and configurable head-up display.
“It’s a more open-feeling and contemporary interior that passengers will find inviting. It’s an environment that intentionally puts more at the driver’s fingertips, for a greater feeling of confidence and connection with the vehicle,” said Global Chevrolet Design Executive Director Phil Zak.
Additional interior updates include new screen displays and graphics, authentic leather-wrapped surfaces and real wood accents available on certain models, new audio control knobs, and climate vents and controls for second-row passengers.
Chevy also improved the 2024 Silverado HD’s trailering technology by adding Adaptive Cruise Control with Trailer, Enhanced Transparent Trailer, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and Gross Combined Weight (GCW) Alert.
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD will make its public debut at the State Fair of Texas on September 29. Production begins in the first half of 2023 at General Motors’ Flint Assembly in Michigan, and at Oshawa Assembly in Canada. Pricing and additional details will be released closer to the start of production.
