Actor Coco Martin uses only Shell oils for his motorcycle collection

Celebrity Coco Martin is just like any motorcycle lover who makes sure that his rides are well-maintained. He even cleans and maintains his big bikes throughout the pandemic .

The 39-year old actor recalled that his love for motorcycles started early in his life.

(My passion for motorcycles began during my younger years. I learned how to drive using our family’s tricycle. Since I did not come from a well-off family, I would earn my allowance by driving our tricycle to fetch and drop passengers to their destinations),” he shared.

Engines and maintenance were something the older members of the family were familiar with. His grandfather drove a jeepney, a career passed on to his father, while the tricycle where he learned to ride was his grandmother’s.

He said that he saw how his family took good care of their vehicles, thus becoming an innate trait that he possessed when he got his own collection of motorcycles.

But he is not just working on them. He makes sure he only uses Shell Advance oils on them.

On his personal profile on Instagram, Martin shares his collection of SUVs, muscle cars, sports cars, and big bikes. Before the quarantine restrictions were imposed, Martin made time to ride out to nearby towns whenever his schedule permitted.

Ang ulap akala mo nasa tabi mo lamang at nahahawakan mo,” (There are beautiful places in the Philippines we can be proud of.  When I have a little time to spare, I frequently visit Treasure Mountain in Tanay, Rizal. It is surrounded by mountains and you would think that the clouds are right beside you and are close enough to touch). ” Martin noted.

Coco Martin is also a product ambassador for Honda Airblade150.

Coco and some from friends would ride to Bulacan, Balete, Batangas, or to Quezon Province to “chill” in the river and have a picnic.

However, it is during these rides that engines may quickly wear out a motorcycle’s engine because of high temperatures. To address this, Martin said he trusts Shell Advance Long Ride, a fully-synthetic engine oil that helps maintain effective lubrication performance for long rides up to 6,000 kilometers. According to Shell Philippines, Shell Advance Long Ride can cover a trip from Batanes to Jolo six times without abusing the motorcycle engine.

Martin also has a vintage motorcycle which, according to Shell, is maintained exclusively by Shell Advance Power. It is designed to prevent oxidation and deposit formation inside the engine.

While a segment of riders goes for leisure trips, a huge chunk mainly uses these two-wheel vehicles for work. Pilipinas Shell Technical Advisor Bobby Capistrano said some riders prioritize fuel economy over power and motorcycle endurance.

Ito ‘yung mga riders na buong araw gamit ang motor sa kanilang trabaho. (These are the riders who use their bikes for work or to go to the office every day). Shell Advance Fuel Save is perfect for them. They would enjoy lower running costs and would run longer without having the need to refuel),” he said.

Shell Advance Fuel Save is said to promote lesser friction and ensure the smoother movement of engine components. Aside from that, engine durability is not affected, and the company claimed that loaded fuel gives an extra five kilometers beyond the normal—as shown during a field test of a fleet of bikes that ran for 12,000 kilometers under normal conditions.
