'All systems go' for 1st Summer MMFF Parade of Stars, MMDA assures

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) expressed its readiness for the Summer Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars slated on Sunday (April 2) in Quezon City.

In a statement, the agency said that the parade — which will showcase eight floats featuring each movie in this year's lineup namely Apag; Singlebells; About Us But Not About Us; Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko; Unravel: A Swiss Side Love Story; Here Comes The Groom; Yung Libro Sa Napanuod Ko; and Love You Long Time — shall start at 4 p.m. in Villa Beatriz that is within Commonwealth Avenue.

To serve as staging area for the floats are the two outer lanes from Villa Beatriz to North Zuzuarregui.

The five-kilometer parade will then proceed to Quezon Memorial Circle traversing Commonwealth Avenue and will end at Liwasang Aurora for the main event.

Expecting a huge number of fans will watch the parade, the MMDA is set to field 780 personnel to manage traffic and ensure the safety of the parade's attendees, On the other hand, the Quezon City government shall deploy 1,202 personnel on the day of the parade, complementing the MMDA manpower.

MMDA Acting Chairman and concurrent MMFF Over-all Chairman Atty. Romando Artes encouraged the public to watch the parade in support of the first-ever Summer MMFF. "With these preparations, we are hopeful that the Parade of Stars for our first Summer MMFF will likewise be a success. We are also looking forward to its good run in cinemas nationwide," he said.
